TEN DAYS IN TUSCANY— “Unpack Once and Relax Italian Style”
A Proposal
Miles Fish’s NWACC Foundation Escorted tour to Italy for Summer 2018

Aside from the fact that this is an escorted trip to one of the world’s great destinations, here are additional “Ten Days in Tuscany” for a NWACC Foundation Tour advantages to consider.

First—the duration is 10 days. Considering two days of transportation—there and back—it is a  time frame that fits within a 2-week period which might be do-able for travelers who work.

Second—the destination is Tuscany with the slogan “Unpack once and Relax Italian Style.”  Many travelers who can afford this trip have been to Italy and might be reluctant to spend money on a duplicate trip. That’s why I’ve made “10 Days” unique from most of the escorted trips I know of. It is tailored made for people who have already “done” the Italian Golden Triangle (3 nights in Rome, 3 nights in Florence, 3 nights in Venice). It targets people who are tried of trips filled with packing and unpacking and being transported from one spot to another. We live in Siena the whole time (at the Hotel Palazza Ravizza, no less) and enjoy great food and wine and local Tuscan sights (wineries, local museums) and have enough time to just relax and hang out.

Third— “10 Days” is planned for travelers who expect their accommodations, meals, guided tours to be a cut above the usual tourist offerings. It is for travelers who have come to expect the best Italy can offer.

Fourth— The “Ten Days in Tuscany” trip is an ALL NWACC endeavor. It is NWACC Foundation sponsored, it is NWACC planned, and NWACC lead and escorted.   There is no 2nd or 3rd party involvement. I believe this demonstrates that NWACC functions in our global society as an international player without the need for outside assistance. On a side note, I believe that our NWACC in ITALY summer school will become a model for future programs everywhere (our culinary department is already planning a summer abroad based on our Italy program, Karen T-Walker has made an appointment with me to inquire about setting up a similar situation in Germany). Our own International tour will be more proof that we are not followers, we are global leaders. Also, I will maintain the “10 Days” website (much as I have the NWACC in ITALY web) and I will see if Victor’s graphics class would design our printed brochures. “Ten Days in Tuscany” would be an NWACC enterprise inside and out.

Fifth—“Ten Days in Tuscany” would be in Siena during June, while our NWACC in ITALY students are there. I’ve planned one dinner for both groups to dine together in Siena one night. A great opportunity for getting to know one other (or to visit a relative who might be in NWACC in ITALY). Our Summer School students and NWACC Foundation patrons would set down for dinner in Siena. A photo of that event would be a great publicity shot; that I think any state paper—and multitude of social medias—would love to circulate it.

Sixth—I’ve lived and taught here in Bentonville for 20 years (since 1996). I first visited Tuscany in 2000. I became affiliated with an American music summer school in 2001 and have been  returning every summer since staying six week-three months each summer. I think most people who know me, know of my Siena connection.  And many people know of the many tours I’ve lead to Tuscany and of my NWACC in ITALY summer school connection. I think this experience reinforces the credibility of the trip.

The 10 Days trip with the premise “Unpack Once and Relax Italian Style” is a formula for my trips that has proven success record (view testimonials on the website). And the program is amendable. For those who want more Italy there is a truly VIP Venice add-on at the end of Siena. For those who might want to land in Rome and tour there for a few days, I am available to help them with those arrangements.
10 Days Includes….
  • A coveted room with a view at the Palazzo Ravizza, consistently rated one of Siena’s top three hotels (usually it’s #1)
  • Breakfast each day plus one other group meal (lunch or dinner). The group dinners are at favorite restaurants in Siena and include wine, water, gratuity, etc.
  • Tuscan DayTrips to Florence, Brolio Vineyards, Montalciano, Pienze with private transportation. All Day Trips include lunch with water, wine, etc.
  • Local excursions to Duomo, Duomo Museum, Santa Maria della Scalla, Bruco Contrada entrance fees included
  • Museums/church in Florence (Uffizi, Santa Croce, "David", etc.) entrance fee included
  • All tours and planned meals are escorted
  • I would be available to help with other options such as cooking classes, horseback riding in Tuscany, etc.
